An SMS coupling (or SMS union) is a hygienic pipe connection system standardized by the Swedish Manufacturing Standard (SMS 1149). It is commonly used in industries requiring sanitary, easy-to-clean fittings—primarily:

    🔧 Key Components of an SMS Coupling:

  • Male Part (Welded Liner)

  • Female Part (Welded Nut or Weld Ferrule)

  • When assembled, the nut compresses the gasket between the male and female parts, forming a leak-tight, hygienic seal.

  • Nut (Hex or Round with Lugs) – used to tighten the union

  • Gasket – for sealing (EPDM, NBR, PTFE, etc.)
